No Destination
With my heart in my hand I hit the road
Not all that wiser yet another year old
I don’t always believe all that I’m told
No destination as the journey unfolds.
The sky is so blue and it melts into the sea
The rhythm of the waves sound like music to me
They crash on the rocks and then retreat
The constant battle between where the land and sea meet.
I take off my shoes and feel the warmth of the sand
I drift off to thoughts of a far away land
The people are talking but I can’t understand
A sea gull walks over to the place where I stand.
So much beauty I can’t take it all in
I follow my tracks to see where to begin
I think that it is time to either sink or swim
So I take off my shirt and just jump in.
The water is cold yet I feel so alive
I submerge myself through a wave I dive
I come back up on the other side
The waves provide a pretty good ride.
I get out of the water the sun warms my soul
Often I feel like I swim in a fish bowl
Going in circles but never getting anywhere
I am just try to reach here from there.
The sun goes down and then disappears
I seem to have lost all of my fears
I turn to leave and the ocean seems to wave
It seems like my spirit is what it shall save.
