Nighttime

a disconcerting stillness begins only the hum of my heart light-stepping hooves in my ears slightly I begin to discern more noises creeping in the soft whirl of the ceiling fan as senses start to adjust the nights delightful presences of moths and crickets too soon sand man will appear livid dreams, no pain or tears content on pillow so soft listening to the nighttime its nuances have brought comfort in the shadows
