Nightlight Blue
The parched, cracked earth receives the rain
into a billion hungry mouths;
she suckles at the sky’s wet breast
swaddled in cloud-gray gauzy blouse.
Sweet budding grasses nod and sway;
infant creatures babble and croon,
as Mother Nature tucks all in
‘neath nightlight-blue lullaby moon.
