Night Shadow
The shadow slips along the ground
darkening and lightening as it goes
full of life as it moves ever onwards
Following the moon as she travels
arching through the starry night
sliding in and out of the clouds
Each night the shadow plays tag
once minute there, the next hidden
insubstantionable depending on fate
When the moon is obscured from sight
just a trace of black lengthening
blink and you will miss where it goes
As the dawn approaches lightening
the sky, so the shadow slips away
and now to its daily rest it goes
