New Year's Eve

If you’re in a crowd….drunk If you’re home alone….drunk In jail…….drunk “Drunk as a skunk!” Sober? Hell no! No matter Anywhere drunk Any way but dead For God's sake It’s New Year’s Eve! Before long The ball will be descending Come down like the blade of a guillotine And if you’re very lucky You’ll wake up New Year’s day Feeling rotten avocado green On the bathroom floor

haha. Very descriptive one, Daver. By the way, on your story of the white kitty, my goodness, our stories are exactly the same. I had Callie ALSO for 17 years when she got the lump that grew larger and she slowly died of cancer. And I too held her at the vets as they put her to sleep. I still regret not taking her in when I first felt the lump. I think she could have been saved. Now I know lumps in cats can be more than just hairballs. Never again!!

Such a sad way too many find celebration. Line 14 is so vivid. Keep on writing! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Karen

i could have gone out.. got drunk as a skunk.. could have woke feeling like a rotten avocado.. on the bathroom floor... could have.. but instead i wrote my new years resolutions, yep, its on paper now, and i rented movies and with a big bowl of buttered popcorn, cozy in my little nest, so cozy, with kitty beside me... i said happy new year kitty on the stroke of midnight, she said meow.. as we settled into the sofa to watch another flick... new years resolution.. get out more..

btdt! great fun! Daver!.... inspiration for my mississippi bullfrog poem?.. I camp along the Mississippi in its northern most reaches on Native-Lands in the summertime.... the wild-rice beds hold a plethora of mind-rattlingly-loud frogs! which goes dead-calm when a predator is close! nature's warning system! I wrote this one night in this place!
