Never Needed Someone Near
You say you never needed someone near;
To hold or at least know is always here.
No desire to touch a hand or a cheek
Or to hear a voice that makes you weak.
So then this loneliness you did not know:
When all are gone but you never said “Go.”
Never needed arms wrapped tight around you,
Enjoying the rain or sun in sky blue.
Well, I am not much like you in this way;
Hungry – not - for a single touch each day?
A void is what I feel within my heart
Whenever just inches or miles apart.
But this strong need to be near another
Has always been for you, and no other.
