Never Forget
Never forget that
life did not begin with you
the world did not begin with you
Never forget that
man is not like an island
We are not the beginning, we are not the end.
Remember that
you walk upon the tears
of those who lived before you appeared.
Remember that
You stand on a ground that has absorbed
much bloodshed from those who fought
to keep this land, a place where you can be free
Free to dream, free to live as you see fit.
Not so that you can get your way over another
Not so that you can get rich on the back of another
But that you can live knowing that all men are created equal
No one is above another, for the value of a human
Is not given by man, but by God
Who created you as His son and His daughter.
That gives you a value of divine dimension
That, understanding this truth, will prevent abuse
Of any kind on another, because you would not use
such demeaning deeds on your mother, father, sister or brother
That those who were willing to sacrifice their lives
Did this, because they understood the value of human life.
Never forget that
life did not begin with you
The world did not begin with you
Never forget that
man is not an island
We are not the beginning, we are not the end.
