Never Break My Heart
A friend hands him an envelope with familiar handwriting
a note from his lady friend—why didn’t she bring it, he’s inquiring
he opens the envelope, reading the contents carefully
It’s a Dear John letter—why did she do this to me?!
his heart is torn and full of pain
leaving the church, tears roll down his face like a torrential rain
Weeks pass…he feels forlorn as he sits in his den
choking back tears, he asks, “Will I ever love again?”
He seeks solace—he heads to the bookstore
his favorite place to enjoy coffee, to write and more
As he enjoys his coffee, someone catches his eye…
an alluring blonde with wavy, shoulder length hair saunters by
their eyes meet…she flashes a warm, precious smile
“Hi, may I join you please?” she asks, “Perhaps we can talk awhile!”
they speak at length of books, writing and favorite writers
his heart is starting to a bit of cheer as past pains start to disappear
He is thinking, “Oh, how I long for the day to meet someone
“who won’t make me feel sad and lonely…”
and will join me in a sweet love symphony
“Oh to meet someone to help me give love a kick start
and she will never break my heart.”
