Neighborhood Alert

NEIGHBORHOOD ALERT On December 1st (even before) lights go up A celebration? Take a moment for some thought A celebration of what? Not of neighborhood Certainly not group concern The lights are patchwork Standing alone in the dark A few proclaiming their faith The rest are not sure Not certain what it all means Alone with their fears The clear night sky filled with stars Yet the rest are not certain HE giver of life Has sent us a messenger A Divine poet Gatherer of neighborhoods The message “Let there be LIGHT”

Hey Mr. Austin, how are you? TY for this enlightenment Sir, and great write ! I'll have to take notice this year, how the souls will manage, decor wise. Seems every year the decor for the xmas holidays loses its cynosure, as regards Christ. Our neighborhood goes all out each year with the decorations, yet lack the faithful message of yore. It's all "Disney", ect. Yet who am I to judge ! Have a great day dear poet ! much love, james

Yes, now there are fewer and fewer people putting their lights on the houses and lawns. I think it's either laziness/economy(feeling depressed) or fear of robbery. We have two reindeer we finally stopped putting on the lawn. Some kids every year take the male deer and place him on top of the female. Good grief. IN my case, why we don't often do lights is because my hubbie is a Xmas Scrooge and I can't get him to do it for me. This is a really nice Xmas & neighborhood message, Daver. Luv, Andrea

There are some folks who don't feel the Christmas spirit and can't relate to the joy others feel in celebrating our Savior's birth. I love the spiritual quality of this beautifully written poem, Daver. Wish all neighborhoods could be united by faith, not only at Christmas but all year long. Love, Carolyn
