Navigating Through Life's Highway
I’ll drive until the end of the road
I don’t wanna know
who built the bridges?
Or why there are potholes.
Why the road winds
and bends so often?
Why do I get all the stop signs,
the red lights, the detours
and the railroad crossings.
Why milestones appear at every turn?
Who is in my lane
ahead of me or behind,
I must just stay the course
and stray not.
Out of gas, I pulled over
on the side and get out,
The sun is setting
and there’s a chill in the air—
Why there’s always a fall
and never a summer?
With my chin to the chest
and arms wrapped around me,
I get back on the road.
I don’t wanna know
Why it’s a moonless night?
Why the stars do not shine?
I just have to push on—
Walk I must and walk I will
until the road ends;
I just wanna know...
Will I get back home soon?
