Nature's Grandeur

Never have I felt so small As when standing by the sea. Perhaps it was its vastness, Or maybe it was me? The water it seemed endless; The horizon out-of-view-- I felt fragile as a butterfly That sips the morning dew. And standing there the longest while, Having nothing else to do... I observed the sea was still as large, Though my inches just as few. And yet I left a bigger man, Though in stature as a bee... In awe of nature's grandeur Though it took the sea, to see! ~M

Life at it's better moments, allowing ourselves some time by the ocean, or the sea reflecting upon our inner spirit or thoughts....I can picture this and feel you in the write. Very nicely done!

WOW, I got to feel the motion of the ocean, in this poem. I pictured myself on the side of the shore. I felt every wave, --refresh my mind, into an eternity larger than life. How vast, it is, I'm nothing more than a sandstone, (of beauty) .. Standing by, endless possibilities, Thank you Mel, my friend.. I'm feeling sea sick all of a sudden. Or should I say motion sickness. LOL... In a good way, of course... Linda

Tim, my good man. A ten mile swim? What, are you a Navy Seal lol Maybe your boat sank? Could be any reason why, but if I did ten miles, the Coast Guard Rescue swimmers would be real busy :) Thanks for the read, Tim. Take care, and drop by soon. One of these days we can bust out a twelve pack and get really poetic lol. Peace...Mel

Anne, very nice to hear from you! Btw, you now have the cutest avatar of anyone on this site--adorable. Thank you, my sweet, for reading this homage to nature and its humbling grandeur. I surf, and spend many hours at the beach. I have a profound respect for the sea; she is both lovely and dangerous She is mysterious and unattainable, but always a lady. I am drawn to her. Ttys...xoxo...Mel

Eileen! Good of you to read and comment so generously. Yeah, the ocean and I have an ongoing love affair. I've seen her in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Florida and the West coast, and always she is both beautiful and a lady. I'm pleased to know her...and you :) Thanks Eileen...xxx...Mel :)

Hi Jan, and thank you. This is one of those poems that said all I wanted it to say, and with some helpful imagery. Someone wrote, "The ocean makes cowards of us all." I prefer to think it humbles and inspires. Hope you're well, Ironwoman :)
