My State
My state is confusing even to me
It is old as a Texan would measure
But oh so young as the world would see
And a mix of misery and pleasure
The world has known we are awash in oil
And that seems to be quite enough these days
To gain attention from foreign soil
And overlook our western country ways
Some argue what Texas is and is not
But no one disputes that Texas is big
And the world will take what Texas has got
Just give us a little time to dig
Our cities are big, but not very old
And that don't matter when you pour black gold
