My Spiritual Journey

A young lad of twelve I found myself At the altar in our small country church Confessing my sins, To insure my spiritual health. Then came the call to serve as a pastor Grandma had always said I was the “preacher” In the family, I set out to serve my Master. On to college and seminary at length I studied hard and prepared to do my best To serve the Lord, With all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. My faith sometimes wavered along the way I wondered why Christians seemed, at times So self-serving and phony, It is especially hard to be “righteous” every day. I finally retired after forty-some years of service Seeking to find lasting peace through meditation On the universe, When I focus on nobler things, I feel less nervous! I left organized religion, after graduating from Methodist collenge. In N, Y. saw more hypocrisy, Head of large church married and sleeping with a tenant on my floor. You can find some peace in meditation, but I can't help but believe if you are honest with yourself. There is an emptiness that only God can fill. Remember...HE is not the one who disappointed you. I'm not a fanatic, nor in mainline Christendom, Soup mail me some time. I like your attitude Stay well friend.

It's fascinating to learn about people's lives. Yes, I think years of that work would be stressful. It's nice you know how to meditate!

It pays to be honest in all things...even sometimes when it is a bit embarrassing. Thanks for your comment.
