My Son
I saw; asked why you were crying,
you said nothing; in pain from the
walk from your school. I let that
one pass. While silence entertained
use I saw; asked why you cry.
Nothing you said again.
I heard; walked in your room, asked
why are you crying, you said nothing.
I listened at your door, muffled
whimpers’, echoed throughout the
house, sadness in a little boys heart.
I fell, lying on the floor, I saw you and
heard you call 911. Now I know why
you cry. It is hard to watch someone
you love slowly fade. However, you
were strong, taking control.
I saw, as I lay in bed, your smile,
there were no more tears. I almost
forgot how you looked happy. Relieved
that the sadness was no more.
I heard your laughter; in the silence of
the night, it was just silence. A peaceful
ending to a day without tears. Saved
from my submission to the end.
I stand to walk; blessed to have had you as
my son, glad that you took charge when I
was unable to see and hear my life circling
the drain.
