My Solitude
Alone In the forest late one night,
Moon shadows grace the glistening snow.
The contrast and shapes are an awesome sight.
What a warm feeling… seeing the soft glow,
Now I understand Solitude Henry David Thoreau.
Your words have brought me to this wondrous place,
A domicile so peaceful found only in dreams,
Beauty so inspirational one can never erase.
Hearing the birds sing and the wolves’ screams,
Living among the forest, mountains and streams.
Just at that moment there is a tug on my sleeve.
My wife grabs my hand and says we must go.
I look in amazement and cannot believe,
For I had been reading and not standing in snow.
I then look down and see a picture of Thoreau.
