My Shield

By Michael J Falotico an insult does hurt.. when a tongue feels like a knife.. covered ears, my shield.. words spit like bullets.. some hit there mark, some have not.. target smaller now..

Michael, there is a book I read about creating a "mental shield" that prevents unkind remarks from others from hurting you. Your poignant poem reminded me of the book and this type of shielding actually does work if you continue to practice it. Love, Carolyn

I have felt a lot of these bullets you talk of and as long as they miss their mark you can get back up a bit easier. This was a great piece, thanks for you warm thoughts on "worn out sneakers" cory
