My Precious Gem
Maybe someday I will learn
That for some things you cannot earn
Without dropping a piece of gem
Just to pay the unnecessary aid
Of a supposed-to-be lonesome war
If only I tackled things a little more raw
Surely I wouldn’t be now pale and lame
If only I obeyed the signs
My wild ego wouldn’t be made so tame
Yes, if I hadn’t chosen pleasure over treasure
Even when I knew the signs didn’t bode well
My soul wouldn’t be feeling so unwell
If then I had frowned for the crown
Surely, today my smile wouldn’t appear crooked
Maybe it’s time I learn’t to learn
That with this pain I can gain
The same things I hope to earn
Without any mutual aid
Only with the plans I already laid
Just to keep my precious gem.
