My Precious Angel

My Precious Angel

My precious little angel
in Gods' loving care
how often I have grieved for you
wishing you were here.

I had a fleeting glimpse of you
before you went away.
I knew I had to say goodbye
you were too small to stay.

For though you grew inside of me
you were not mine to keep
God called you to his loving arms
now there you gently sleep.

Briefly were you with me
yet I loved you from the start
and now forever you will be
engraved within my heart

and in the shelter of Gods' love
I know you will remain
never to know suffering,
heartache, loss and pain.

I'll find my comfort in my faith
until my days here end.
Then through Gods' sweet salvation
we will unite again.

Robin, this brought tears to my eyes. I have been here too, my very first child, a baby boy... I truly understand. I now have a precious little girl who is almost 9 but I've never forgotten my first one. The kicker was it happened Mother's Day weekend so I always have an extra reminder. :/ So sorry this happened to you Robin, you wrote a beautiful tribute to your little one and I wish you all the best. Love and hugs too, Amy

"God called you to his loving arms" Jostle the last verse around a bit don't loss the meter or the end rhyme it's TOO important a verse to let it loose the impact it deserves. (I lost my first baby. We never forget. I have a 30 year old son, my second baby..grin...he forgets me..sigh) Debbie

Robin, it's not silly getting a memorial tattoo for someone you love. It's a reminder of them. Life's uncertain but death is sure and the moment we stop thinking about them is the moment they really die. I can clearly see his memory will never fade away. It will live on the rest of the days of your life. Thanks for you lovely comments and God blesses us to bless. It's not about the number of poems we write, it's about the poems that we write that touch peoples lives. Thanks for the opportunity.

Remarkable and poignant, it reminds me of one I have entitled ' A Man Named Jesus'. This has a sad tone but an uplifting feeling amongst it. I write poetry like this several times a week. I write poetry for funerals and have hundreds collected. I have a book entitled 'In the Time of Sorrow' this style is marketable...I applaud your courageous efforts is displaying such a piece...Raul

This is beautifully written Robin... so sad, yet ultimately redemptive. Excellent flow and rhyming. God bless, Keith
