My Nkiru

She was desperate to find love I was desperate for my love to love me Nkiru was running to find love While I was waiting patiently for my love was yet to find me. We met in an MBA class And became casual friends But she was desperate Age was counting, pressures too I wanted to be loved and was willing to wait But Nkiru was not my chosen love The closer she got to me the farther I slipped away from her She smothered me with her kisses But I couldn't respond because I could not pretend Then my patience paid off The love of my heart responded There was a song in my heart And a spring in my walk My love has come home to stay Nkiru couldn't stay any longer She had become desperate Age was counting, pressures mounting So she walked away from life As my love walked in.
