Wrote on Father's Day, 2011.

She smiles and my name is said with such unbound glee. Though not the one I was born with, this one that holds more meaning. Alike her brother too will call it though in harmonized repeat like waves in slow repetition. As his bare feet slap surface and he approaches. The understanding of it's meaning escapes me for the moment, though my heart knows it's significants, my mind can't wrap around it. They hold the key to my day and in their actions can build me up or break me. But when happy I too am happy, the world's a warmer place. In thought alone, I then reflect on my comings and my goings. My name is mentioned in parting sorrow and in joyful arrival. My name eluded then, bright illuminated now. I know my greater purpose. To teach them of moral and respect, to teach of right and wrong. My goal is to teach them to love, as another FATHER shows me. Though I may often falter, I am my children's "Daddy" as they so heartwarmingly remind me.

Jesse: One day these little ones will read this and weep. Somethings we don't understand as kids. The understanding often doesn't come until years later. Thank you for sharing another great write with all of us on the soup. Keep them coming. oldbuck

It's hard for me to imagine what a man feels inside who doesn't want to be their to raise their kids. They are just far to treasurable to not be around.

Ahh!! How wonderful a work about the role of being a father which is a very wonderful position to have in life..I enjoyed reading your work..Thanks for stopping by my work..I know that winters must be very hard on the people up north..I don't think that my body could handle that kind of weather..I would have to get equipped to stay inside during the worst part of it..Sara

How did I miss this. My "father" was and is, though gone to God, my "Daddy."

I think fathering is a learned experience. We learn from the mistakes our parents make and find profound reason to repeat their successes.

I love this. I live with my sister, her husband and their two little ones (4 and 2), and I adore them. And they me. They are so happy to see me and they bring me such joy. This is written with so much tenderness.

My kids are quite a bit older now... but the way kids are so affectionate, they overlook our faults and we can do no wrong in their eyes. It's a beautiful gift

Jesse, this is so touching... there is nothing more important than being mommy or daddy, loving and teaching our children. Very very well done, my friend.

Thank you, Becca. I'm not always the best dad, but I want to be, that's always at the back of my mind that I want to be the best I can for them.
