My Mom's Lap

When I was a child I was often there Cuddled in Mom's arms In our rocking chair The cats would join us As Mom read books to me Purring and jostling for Position on our knees I felt so warm and safe I knew that I was loved As the cats on the books Their whiskers shoved I would gaze up to Mom's face She was so pretty to see And give thanks that she And my Dad had adopted me

Captivating rhythm and rhyme paint a very vivid picture, then in the last stanza you surprise us with a treat: a very special love. Very nice. Thanks, Dave

I was so lucky to be the one chosen by them and I have written many poems about the two people who made me the person I am. Thank you for the kind and complimentary review.

I knew I might cry when I clicked on the title. I feel you, Janet and I'm embracing both you and this poem, not because you are necessarily sad, but because I now am and want a hug! A touching and pretty write anyone who was loved as a child can relate to, and God I pray, all were and will be, well loved ... CayCay

Life twists and turns. Mine has traveled steadily along because of the people I have had it.
