My Inheritance
This year I inherited a farm surrounded in love.
Included, house, fields, machines, and barn,
From my distant past, I can feel the sense of need.
Your wonder written in every faded side,
Your tainted stains of red show your age of time.
Weathered damage shows that nature is unkind.
Your strength is evident in your stature so bold.
Whispers of sounds fade, though grasp my ears.
Evidence roams around your perimeter in sight.
Traces of housed remnants, secure your story.
Telling of the creations and forms, you caressed.
Along with sheltering herds of living things,
A testament to your foundation still shows complete.
Your fortitude captures my heart, in a natural backdrop.
