My Independence

My Freedom, My Independence. The start of my new life, going back home. Leaving the one person I have feared for years, away from the yelling, the outbursts and the abuse. I see the prison doors open I now can breath I slowly open my eyes, thru the haze and fog everything starts to clear up. I look up and see the most magnificent beautiful tree of knowledge standing in front of me is an angel, looking into his eyes, I feel all my fears and doubts wash away as his wings engulf my body, I relax and fall into him as he holds me, he kisses my forehead and tells me that everything will be ok, I look into his eyes and whisper DAD. I am finally at home.

How wonderfully you depict fathers as a refuge. It’s a beautiful poem.

One of the best things I ever did was the courage to walk away. This was very personal and had to be written and my father was my savior. He taught me everything and this was a way for me to thank him even though he already passed. He was with me during my journey as I hope every little girl experiences when it comes to their daddy. Thank you for your very kind words.
