My Final Poem
My book of heartfelt poems I leave to you –
Upon my time of death, please read it through.
Review each page and pause with gentle care
reflecting on the thoughts I did accrue
in my anthology of life: some fair,
resplendent with an optimistic view;
yet others, dark with pessimistic doubt,
confusing the emotions – here a smile,
and there a tear to turn me inside out –
so puzzling seems the inconsistent style.
By only analyzing from the start,
observing well the sequence, will you find
a theme unfold through dramas of my heart,
while isolated fragments leave you blind –
For, only understanding of the whole
grants keepsake of my everlasting soul.
