My Favorite Chair

Ah! To lie back and relax in the cushions of my recliner! At the end of a wearisome day, nothing could be finer! Alas, even Simba the cat considers it his favorite lair. That I can tell by the tufts of yellow hair clinging there! Its arms have embraced me in many a snoreful snooze. With the cat in my lap, then it's off with my shoes! I read my Bible in the comfort of my old chair, And chat with the Lord as I offer Him my prayer! Pleasurable are the times I hold the grandkids on my lap, Regaling them with tales as they drift off to nap. From it I've hurled abuse at my favorite football team, And vented my rage at politicians' every ploy and scheme! Settled in the chair I like to muse and reminisce, Recalling fond memories of places and people I miss. 'Tis my oasis for listening to music to help me unwind. I can kick up my feet and retreat from the daily grind! Flopped in the chair, I've read great books about this and that, And with my spouse nearby, I've enjoyed many an intimate chat. With embers aglow on the grate, there's no place I'd rather be, As we savor a mug o' coffee or a steaming cup o' tea! Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired © All Rights Reserved

Amen, Robert. My recliner is my best inanimate friend. It's old, like me, but very comfortable. It's where I write all my poetry! Ralphie

My chair is new only two years old, love to lay back in it. it is the chair i feed my grandson brandon in. but before that one that other chair was old, that is an under statement when i say old. so Bob i can relate to this poem which was a great one. thank you for commenting on When my family ate together. glad i took you back in time.

Love thinking of you enjoying your time in this special chair, Bob. I have a recliner that I spend a lot of time in as I read or watch TV. Stay comfy and cozy, my friend! Great poem. Love, Carolyn

A comforting and lovely write, Robert. It's amazing how furniture we love, acquires it's own personality. Your chair would certainly have absorbed some of your energies. I don't think I have a favorite chair anymore.:( Mine had acquired it's own quirks and quibbles, and had had to be removed. Love this piece, Robert! Definitely your comfort zone! Best to you and yours, Mikki
