My Father of Shadows and Lines

My father’s a memory of shadows and lines In black and white photos his smiling face shines A man in a war With a family of four And just another victim of his times The year was 1951 He left behind three girls – one son A pilot and plane Nothing left but his name And I’m left with no memories to come As I sit and write these lines I think of him and my heart pines I was just four When he was no more My father’s just a memory of shadows and lines. Mike: My name is Pamela Gayle Tapp Martin and I live in Topeka, KS. My stepfather retired from the Air Force here many years ago. He married my mother about 18 months after reporting a plane missing on October 15, 1951 at Westover AFB, Massachusetts. He was the officer on duty when our father's plane went missing. Do you mean your father was also on that plane? I do not have a list of the other crew members. I did run into an older gentleman who said he was on the crew that flew the plane to Germany and handed it off to my father's crew for the return flight. mikedailey1948@gmail.com

Such a moving account of a boy who never had the chance to know his Dad, wow...this one touches the heart with such sadness. Beautifully shared in this poem.
