My Direction
Upon a ship I sailed to sea
No compass there to point
I left a boy, became a man
A lifetime there, anoint
Waves were harsh and wind so cold
But, I fought and persevered
My sailing vessel and myself
Though tattered, were still steered
Direction, then, became my goal
Pointed ways fell from the sky
As stars at night became my friends
Instead of leaving me to die.
Here I am now, to tell my tale
Of my days, there, lost at sea
But, as with all, there is hope
And faith remains with me
Fear not your days when set adrift
Fear not, ever, days alone
Believe in you and all you are
The brightest star that’s ever shone.
