My Daughter

My daughter was six when she drowned In a lake of cold, dark water Whoever said, "Time heals all wounds" Never lost a son or daughter She had long brown hair And big blue eyes A parent mourns forever When their child dies Forty three years have passed Since that awful day I so miss what might have been Maybe a grandchild along the way I hoped someday My heart would heal But even after all these years The pain is still so real.
