Lurking in the confines of her lair she awaits me - her prey Opening the door she smiles and invites me in I sit down and she prods my veins, Her eyes sparkle, I can see she is craving my blood I wince as she tightens the tourniquet but there is no stopping her now Her hand quivers as she plunges the syringe deep into my arm Moments later it is all over and I leave the doctor’s surgery A massive smile is on my lips I have suffered from needle phobia for many years This is the fourth blood test I’ve had with no adverse reaction My fear of the vampire nurse is now vanquished A true story from my fasting blood test today It was such a success I gave the nurse the bar of chocolate I was going to eat after my test was over 11th November 2015

Loved it!!! This time, my vampire nurse was a sexy sweet lassie and it made all the difference... methinks it should be a prerequisite for all vampire nurses to become a blood sucker!!! Sure took my mind off the proceedings! LOL Hugs, Jack xxx

Jan, Virtually all of us can identify with your account, which is so cleverly written (of course, you don't write anything that isn't clever or remarkable in some other way). hugs always xxx Paul

Thanks so much as ever Paul:-) I got a card for the nurse and printed this out along with another poem I wrote last year called 'the vampire nurse' - oh how different the experiences were and I think I am finally getting to grips with my fear of needles:-) The blood test was negative on all 4 counts which is even better news:-) hugs jan xx

Do you look? I can't. Every time I have been in the hospital, they send the vampires in during the early wee morning. I don't hesitate to call them vampires. I enjoyed this therapeutic write very much ... CayCay

I have suffered from needle phobia since i was about 11 Lindsay - for the past few tests I have taken some chocolate/sweet/ to eat whilst they take the blood and a bottle of water to drink. yesterday I was so calm I didn't even eat the treat and didn't feel faint even though it had been a fasting test:-) hugs Jan xx

It's so cool how you get inspired by your everyday life, Jan. I doubt I could have given up my chocolate after all that!! Glad everything turned out good for you too.
