My Cry

Mongrels gyrating on the edge of town This it now- its going down The chant electric, the doomsday count It matters not that no one speaks a word We knew it was coming, but you havent heard Just know how I loved you , go fly little bird A mass of hungry hatred flash of glimmering blades Blood of the martyrs, murder and Hades Dance of the hyena, foul flinging dung Clinging our candles only looking up Feeble little fingers summoning the Light A promise in our prayers armless in a fight This is my cry, tell it to the world From the podiums and parliaments Dont believe a word

I've heard nightmare stories from my sister when Zimbabwe entered carnage in the early 90's ... easier said than done to pack up your whole life and heritage - Australia, surely is a good option? Not sure how it all works. Stay safe Jannie - now I'm really very worried for you. Leanne

Hi Maureen, nice to have you back on my show. I really didnt want to post this but ita my dutu to my counrtymen and fellow man to call a spade a shovel. As we.nearing an election things are hotting up more. We have a nationwide prayer day on 22 April . Most believe only a Divine intervention can save this toilet bowl country now. Its another Zimbabwe scenario. Its destroyed period. No more currency 90% unemployment. The killing fields are wet .

I'm thinking of and praying for you and yours daily, Jannie, as I read and try to decipher the truth/lies flowing from there, (I am no longer god-fearing, but I still believe in the power of prayer) ... this should be read by ALL. Keep your voice clear and loud, my friend! My pharmacist buddy is from SA, and while he loves his homeland, he says he is never going back or taking his family back even to visit - he says it is no longer "his" country, or the one he knew. Wow!! I can’t even imagine what you must be going through. So scary! This poem was so deserving of poem of the day. So sorry that you and your loved ones have suffered such unspeakable horrors. I pray that you will be safe. Absolutely horrific and a crime what is happening there. Gosh I am at a loss for words.

Hi Carol. Their method is to keep everything under wraps. There are clips on facebook for those that can stomach the graffic contents. They have either stolen or destroyed all infrastructure. When I mean theft I mean the scale is off the charts man! The cities like Johannesburg are hovels and slums. Likewise Pretoria. Every night there are protests and burning tyres on the roads now. Its hectic

The whole world was duped into believing this is about human rights. Thats bullsh..t. Its about their greed and theft. An attitude of entitlement.

I am so happy to see your poem recognized as POTD Jannie. Congratulations! You have lived through these atrocities and I can't imagine the pain. Your sister being raped and your uncle being strangled and castrated. How horrible to have to live in that kind of fear. I will certainly keep praying that things improve for you Jannie. For instance: my sponsor was shot 7 times but lived and even forgave them . My tenant was gang raped by 6 guys. My sister was raped.I can go on and on. My uncle was strangled with barbed wire and the castrated etc etc

Janine, I believe I read another poem on this sad plight of your country before. Maybe you were the one who wrote that other one too. It is so hard to believe this is happening and I really wish you were not there. This sounds too much like Rwanda happening all over again. Oh, please take care for yourself. Cay Cay my angel , fear not. I am all good and blessed. I couldnt keep quiet any longer though. There are many footpaths in the bush. Its crazy, there are beautiful hot air balloons outside. Your friendship is precious . Leaving is not an option. What grates me is this evil and the apathy and inertia that still prevails. People must wake up.
