My Contention

MY CONTENTION ~~~~~~~~~~~ my contention... plain words... I'm guilty if you need a dictionary to define words in a poem that your reading does not make you a numpty most likely grumpy... anhydrous, that's how they make me feel... now I'm ready for some libation... sorry for my facetiousness simple poetry for me can be the best that's not to say I don't like something deep its the inference to simple that makes me want to we weep... my contention...

Love it! I know exactly how you feel. A real juggling act to be different but not become language-strained to the degree where a poem seems more academic-gymnastics than anything else, void of honesty, balance and rhythm. However, like yourself, when they work, I do love new inventions.

Can't agree with you more Mick. In my early days on soup was bullied for my 'simple' style and my popularity and I nearly left because of this person's behaviour... but I had awesome support from some lovely folks and I am here to stay. I find high faulting intellectual poetry can be so off putting especially if the only person who understands it is the writer.:-) hugs Jan xx

I think many of us will agree with you there Mick. I prefer emotion of dressed up words.

A poem all dressed up in fancy words. Is like cruelty, quite undeserved. Life is complicated enough! Unless you coin one but that's tough! The emotion of words dressed up well, yes! that I too can sup... Mick
