My Child
Alone in my house
Which is falling down around me
Walls leaning
Roof sagging
Foundation crumbling
I sit in the living room
And stare at the brokenness
Of my house, my life
As it crashes down
Around me
Then I hear
A knock at my door
I get up
"Who's there?" I ask
"It is Me"
"What do You want?"
"To help you" He says
"I don't need Your help,
Please go away
I can fix this on my own
It's not as bad as it looks
Nothing really."
We stand at the door
Looking at each other
I see compassion in His eyes
And I knew
He saw through my lies
"Haven't I left you
Alone all these years
And let you build this
Life, this house
On your own doing?"
He speaks the truth
His words cut deep
All I've made
On my own
Is nothing
"Let Me help you." He says
"Trust Me"
He smiles at me
I move aside
And let Him in
In He comes
And goes to work
Repairing with love
And mercy and grace
Making my life, my house
A beautiful place
Beyond what I could ever do
"My work here is done"
He says and gives me a hug
"My child,
I'm always here for you
No matter what, I am here."
