My Calling
I love to go searching for blank journal books
A beautiful cover and I’m instantly hooked
Like it’s calling to me, to fill it with ink
To unload on it all the thinks I can think
Do you like blue pens or black?
I like blue as a matter of fact
Seeing the strokes of a blue pen on white
Is like watching my poetry come alive
A sense of accomplishment zings through me
A sense of pride, exhilarating…
Because I know it is mine, and mine alone
Unique to me, not to be cloned
I may not ever be in the writer’s hall of fame
I doubt that anyone recognizes my name
But that beautiful book will become part of me
I can hear it now; it’s already calling…
