My Calling

I love to go searching for blank journal books A beautiful cover and I’m instantly hooked Like it’s calling to me, to fill it with ink To unload on it all the thinks I can think Do you like blue pens or black? I like blue as a matter of fact Seeing the strokes of a blue pen on white Is like watching my poetry come alive A sense of accomplishment zings through me A sense of pride, exhilarating… Because I know it is mine, and mine alone Unique to me, not to be cloned I may not ever be in the writer’s hall of fame I doubt that anyone recognizes my name But that beautiful book will become part of me I can hear it now; it’s already calling… Feed me Your poetry 11/6/11

nicely writen. the rouge recomends you, and i'm not disapointed. but i'll have to read further if you are to become one of my faves. one thing in your favor is that you keep journals. something i did from 1977 through 2009 when i found poetry on line. i hardly use pen and paper any more but those days will return hopefully. T.S.

This is so nice, Susan. Very sincere thoughts on your own writing of poetry. I keep seeing people posting poems about their poetry and yet I cannot see any contest about such a theme, just the one that says to only use three lines. I better check the contest area one more time!! Sure hope to hear what you think about the poems for our word wizard contest.Luv, Andrea

Oh shucks, now I want to go find me a blank journal and actually write-- I have been "writing" my poems straight from the computer, so it's actually a treat to write in a journal... really liked this, Susan and thank you for your comments-- aww shucks, don't feel so sad please....:(

Susan, this is DELIGHTFUL. And I adore the ending of it. Didn't it make the list? I see what Frank wrote. I hope he was referring to me as the mutual friend! Luv, Andrea

What a lovely idea, Susan. Writing all your poems in pretty books. I write all mine on the computer - but, then, my handwriting is so bad that I can't decipher it half the time! Many congrats on your wins too, my friend : )

The reader can feel the joy throughout the poem, Susan. Blank pages and a green pen usually accompany me wherever I go. Like you, I prefer writing them in longhand first. This is the type of happiness only a writer can enjoy. Great entry for the contest! Love, Carolyn
