My Body Is More Than
When you look at me,
what do you see?
Do you see the curve of my cheek
and the way it's smooth
like a spring petal?
Do you see the bend in each of my eyelashes
and the mark of each freckle?
What about the curl of my shoulders
or the arch of my spine?
No. Of course not.
That would be silly, to take time and admire
every inch of my beauty.
To see the structure of my arm
and the length of my nails.
To see the twist of my hair
or the richness of my skin.
Not to mention,
the perfection of my toes
or the elegance of my ring finger
Yes. Of course.
That’s un-thought of.
No one takes time to consider
beyond what they can get…
But my body is like a waterfall
it pours beauty naturally, without effort
And it is more than
what’s hidden between my legs
and what dangles below my chin
My body is sacred
and untouched.
It is divine, to the utmost degree
So next time you look at me,
look again,
and take time to acknowledge
what you see
