My Bicycle and Me

MY heart rate raced as I sat and marveled at this machine. A Cervelo S-5 carbon Bicycle. This must be a dream! So Aerodynamic and efficient with a stream lined design. With a DI-2 shifter that shifts precisely and is so divine. I'm sitting here for several hours on my new racing bike. They're tweaking it perfectly, and making it right. A true masterpiece that is designed for speed. Which every adrenaline junkie definitely needs. I quickly fall in love with the way that it feels. At ten thousand dollars, its quality revealed. As I get on it, it fits like a glove. I shift it quickly as I start to take off. I race with an accelerating rhythm, at maximum speed. What an experience, a euphoric feeling that overtakes me! My heart pounds with excitement and my thighs start to burn, as lactic acid builds up, rounding an apex of a treacherous turn. I glanced at my Garmin , peddling quickly in this competitive race. Twenty-six miles an hour, I average, pushing myself, at a grueling pace! My heart pumps as I spin up this hill, anticipating the descent, oh my what a thrill! I try catching my breath as my lungs cry out for air. Reaching a pinnacle point of exhaustion, and borderline despair! I'm pushing my cadence with everything I got. Failure is not an option, like it or not! I'm shooting for King of the Mountain, in this heart stopping mile. Thank God it's all over, as I stop and relax, for a while! It's all finished now, as I check out the Strava on line. And much to my amazement, I am the fastest, of all time!! I wish I could take credit, and be solely responsible for this great feat, but I know in my heart, it was a great effort, made by My Bicycle and Me.

Hi Afolabi how are you my friend. I have been busy. I had the wind blow two trees down in my yard and I have been trying to use a chain saw to remove them. Hope you are doing well. I always appreciate your kind comments. Thank very much.

Just seeing your note for me. Gus sounds like a fun guy. Wish I had time to try and find a poem of yours to read. Please let me know of one that is one of your favorites! Gotta take off!(luckily in my car, not on a bike)

Because of the down trees I hurried through the write. I went out and almost got blown away from my porch so I waited till morning to check the damage. Hopefully I can get back to commenting again.

Thank you Emile for your kind words and generous rating. I wrote this late at night. We had a bad wind storm knocking down two huge trees in my back yard. So Ian suggested I bring it up a notch. I took a break today from writing and commenting went for a drive with my wife in the Adirondack mts. I will get back to writing tomorrow . Have a nice day Emile, thank you for your thoughts.

Oh, how much I wish I had such a bike when I was competing some 45 years ago when I was doing up to 150 km in one day! Exhilarating poem that made me feel riding my bike again, my friend Michael. A seven for certain! Enjoyed it!

this is really nice to hear how much you love your bike!! To think when I was a child it took my whole big family 4 or 5 hours to do in 33 miles what you did in one hour! (when we rode to another city near ours on the country route!)

Thank you Tim. I wrote this for my brother Gus. He has invested quite a lot of money. These bikes cost as much as cars. He loves it. He got a super deal on a new one. The tires alone cost two grande. The bike sells for eight thousand. The man who owned it got transferred to another country for his job. He had to be there right away so he let a ten thousand dollar bike go for twenty-nine hundred. My brother got a great deal. Now he is selling his original bike. That one he paid three grande for. They are expensive. He loves it.
