My Best Friend

I can feel it coming The end of your story is near. But please let me tell you, How much I care For all the moments you protected and loved me, I'll never forget how you took away my fear. The most wonderful companion Who dried every tear. It saddens me to see you go But you will always be remembered, this I swear. As I lay beside you thinking of the memories Of me walking and feeding you, a perfect pair. It never was owner and dog, just friends Who loved and played so no one could compare. I wish I didn't have to see you weaken and go, For I know I'm losing someone dear. And can't stand the thought of an empty home and an empty heart. But I will always love you even in this despair. Please go on strong and someday we will be, The best human and dog pair.
