My Beautiful Mare
Her beauty was beyond compare,
As her mane blew in the wind.
Her black coat, what a beautiful mare,
A more beautiful mare, you could never find.
She came to me when she was just a foul,
When she was just a sprout.
Her mother had died in a cave where men mined coal,
She was trapped with around a dozen men and could not get out.
I couldn't just leave her,
I had to take her.
I fed her milk and brushed her fur,
I took good care of her.
If only i had seen it coming,
If only the truck could've stopped on a dime.
I sat beside her dying body humming,
Tears slowly appeared as i thought of an earlier time.
Her beauty was beyond compare,
As her mane blew in the wind.
Her black coat, what a beautiful mare,
A more beautiful mare, you could never find.
