My Autumn Romance
It is beautiful
But at heart it is pitiful and saddening.
The leaves are in colours of
Orange and yellow and red
But they will fall
Eventually.
Given a bit of time,
They will
Die,
But even as
The world around them crumbles
There, behold,
Two leaves hang from a dead branch.
Dying? Yes.
Wilting? Yes.
But they remain attached.
The cruel gusts will soon cause both
To meet the ground — death,
But they hold on to one another
Steadfast
Until they crumble and fade from existence.
