I always knew I’d have a child one day, A Boy or girl first? I had not a clue. Once we were married, we did not delay We had a daughter soon with eyes of blue. My name for her already I’d picked out some years before because I liked it so. An angel’s name she’d have. There was no doubt., for “Angela” has such a pretty flow! We call her Angie; she wears well the name. She nearly is angelic. As a child, she never gave us any cause to blame her for a thing! She’s nurturing and mild. She’s got her own kids now, and yet for me, my Angie Baby she will always be. May 24, 2019 for Joseph May's Musical Inspiration Poetry Contest I chose the song Angie Baby for my inspiration, of course!

Andrea, I almost laughed when I read this. I knew at the age of 8 I was going to name my daughter Angela. That is her name, but she gets irritated if anyone calls her Angie, which I am grateful to see as Angela sounds more like angel than Angie. We had similar minds here. It was 1960 when I realized what I was naming my daughter.

How interesting!! I decided it in '63 when I was 8. My name was very rare in those days. People would ask me my name. When I said Andrea, a few of them would say, "Angela? What a pretty name." SO I told myself, "ok, my daugher will be Angela!" Also I adored West Side Story, so I named her Angela Maria (Maria for Nataie Wood's beautiful character).

Your love for your daughter shines in your sonnet, Andrea! You picked a great name for your daughter, though as a child there were probably times she didn't seem angelic. I hope you shared this with her! Best wishes in the contest. Hugs, Carolyn

I believe that a mother/daughter bond has no match in the human equation. The love that they share is remarkable, and so self evident in this poem my friend, Emile.

I'm First! You played the child card and it worked most sweetly; the love and lines both flow to touch the reader's heart. Great pic of your beautiful Angie! A great poem that she should have a copy of, yes? Love ... CayCay
