Music To My Ears

You were always smooth, like piano keys, Playing your tunes for a kiss. I fell in love with the soulful melodies, That purred like praise from your lips. I admit I was ignorant of your game; I was young and naïve and dreamy-eyed. I thought that love was the heart’s parade, And swooned when you crooned you were mine. Then you stopped my parade like a hurricane. And before I knew what had happened, You were singing those same, heart-wrenching refrains, To another “love,” with the same passion. I watched you, unable to believe my eyes. But I heard your voice, and my ears couldn’t lie. 6/13/11 Received 1st place in Brian's "Whatever, Next" contest

back to this nice one and to tell you, I don't think I'll place with Deb. She commented on my poem that it didn't do enough personifying. Oh well, maybe I will take it out and substitute with a sonnet about a talking tree!!!

Yes, I agree - this has to be a big winner, Susan. As you say, there are so many poetry forms - I don't think I'll ever know them all either, LOL. You're quite right about the contests - I'm thinking of holding one on here with a friend (she'll show me the ropes).
