My muse is on the loose in this blank page At times I search for hours between these lines An open notebook is an open cage And when she leaves she's very hard to find I try arousing her to no avail With doodles in the margin killing time I'll take a break, go out and check the mail But she remains as silent as a mime And yet I know that she will soon return She's staring from this paper now at me I guess you'd think by now that I should learn When inspiration comes then there she'll be She seems to come out when it's late at night And always wakes me up and makes me write original poem by Daniel Turner

Ha! Perfect - this coming from someone who just skipped going to sleep so as to write on the missing muse. I admire how you're able to speak so clearly in your sonnets. I always feel like I have marbles in my mouth or that I'm stuck somewhere between 1650 and 1950. Well done

My poems Kitty-cornered Jaguar, Cold-blooded Diabetes, and Mute Speech came about by the following method when my muse decided to evade. I make lists of random words each 10 words long. First Column adjectives second column nouns. Just open the dictionary at random putting your finger down with your eyes closed and selecting the nearest noun or adjective as needed. Then pair of the two columns one adjective and one noun. The randomness of the pairings can do wonders to spark your imagination.

Unfortunately, prodding my muse makes her very angry. She comes and goes as she pleases. I appreciate the ideas, which I may experiment with and also appreciate the very friendly visits.

At least then, you're not stuck staring at a blank sheet of paper. There's something concrete written on it to start with.

Great write Daniel, I find the same thing happens to me, I try to write and then when I'm ready for bed, boom a raging river of words and I have to get up and write. Thought I was the only one.

Not hardly, John. I think it probably happens to a lot of us. mainly because when we turn out the lights and clear our minds, that's when fresh ideas come out. I appreciate your time and your fun comments.
