Murder At Night

I saw from my lofty height, a raving crowd spitting murderous threats, ''hang him'' ''burn him''. then I heard the pleading voice, ''have mercy on me'' but I knew mercy was a stranger in this heart of stone that I beheld. then at dawn, the news filtered into my ears, ''there was a murder at night, there is a corpse lying at your gate''

wow, this is a very intense poem. I enjoyed this one though it was very dark. Good to find one like this at the beginning of your first poetry page.
