Fanatics in Talibama stadiums of bigoted extravaganza hopefully supporters one day held to account for abusing children in the name of evangelical doctrine He assassinates foreign officials as terrorists like to do he supplies Saudi Arapia so they can kill more children than you he loves his small fingers and his walls He runs his concentration camps he stops the needy from eating food stamps socialism is all so very bad unless is to help the richly glad or paying hookers for the peeing mad hatter Many cronies gone to jail he will sell out his family never mind sell-out the USA and democracy he's Putin's batch and that's a fact for years washing money for those Russian rats He downed a plane for his re election he said Obama would do the same however Obama it seems was not insane Trump committed crimes against humanity time for him to face the wall Of justice

Congratulations on this getting POTD! I think team TPS likes to see conflict among the poets? lol Well, I don't agree with all that you’ve written here, but, I have to admit, I've always admired how outspoken you are about the things you believe :) One thing we can agree on, is that we both feel so sad for the children in detention centers at the border. Although I understand why the president has to enforce this zero-tolerance policy, I just hate that the children are suffering. I wish something better could be worked out! A better way to care for the children. And maybe legal immigration needs to be more available or manageable, so everyone can come in the legal way and get the help they seek, instead of trying to come in illegally. But yeah, I wish we could take better care of the children who are here now.

I love my country and I want the problems here to be taken care of first: the homeless and veterans need to be helped too! Illegal immigration needs to stop. And that is what Trump is trying to do. Well, I don’t have the answers. And our country is so divided now, I’m afraid nothing will get accomplished anytime soon.

The poetry arthur, is superb, don't like Trumps arrogance, today, there is no democracy, none what so ever, only a system, when in the 1980's the world order, or whatever one wants to call them, began to introduce to the education system, the way it is going to be....and the example are there for all historic's (anyone aged over 40 to 50) to see..It is a simple plan, and they are winning....

I received literally 1000’s of emails from those that get it, however no one is perfect and I do listen to the variety of views, especially concerning fact and poetry. I have received a few emails from some Iranians upset at the fact I associated their Country with the extremism pervading in the USA. I profusely apologize as this was not my intention and I have edited the line in question.

Although I know you are refering to a small group, Alabama represents all the people in that state. If someone created a derogatory name for Canada I would be offended.

I believe that with writing it is important to create tension. I feel it is also important to then attempt to work towards resolution. That can only happen with respectful and yes ( polite) dialogue. I am someone who for the most part agrees with you and you insult me by saying “you are still not getting it”. Is it not possible that there could be other more effective ways of responding that would still help you express your perspective without alienating the other side?

I wrote a poem, a protest poem, it was not meant to be replace the United Nations. I was here to stand up to hate, and when one support in any way things like concentration camps, I have no interest in debate, not my job. Had you made the same comments on the Pro Trump hate poems you might carry some more weight.

I think you may be missing my point Art. I’m not a supporter of Donald Trump or the actions of his supporters. Your comments to those who disagree is highly divisive and will not lead to dialogue or changing of minds. It will have the exact opposite effect of the the last meme you posted. Asking people questions and listening to what they think is a good place to start. In this case the 98% is preaching to the choir.

You are still not getting it, is fine to have a nice polite debate on the issues. A line has been crossed, as I have said in 1934. Do you not believe in the rule of law? This is no longer a political debate. I am certainly not here to change minds, although maybe to point out which minds belong behind bars rather than children. I know very well you do not agree with it but you seem to think you will change minds with polite talk, how well did that go with you know. How about rather than explain this all to me I buy you a plane ticket and you fly down south and explain this to the children in concentration camps.

Aren't you the pot calling the kettle black, Brenda. Isn't that exactly what this entire blog is about? Pres. Trump is the 12th president in my lifetime. I have not approved of everything each of them did but I still supported them while they were in office. That's what patriots do. If you disapprove you must vote and if you vote you must be willing to accept the outcome.

part 3, if the reader does not interpret something in the way you intend to present it, is that a fault of the reader or the writer? If you look at dialectics two truths can be held simultaneously. Note: your reaction to my response created an emotional response where you attempted to support your perspective by overwhelming me with evidence. The truth is that I don’t disagree, I just didn’t like your methods.

Again you didnt pay close attention, concentration camps, if you think I am worried about offending a few haters, I am not, nor winning. As for is it the fault of the reader or writer, when 98% got it, I am ok with that (this was posted many places with positive results), then people whom support hate and don't get it, I am also ok with that. I wrote this for those who can not speak out, not to win. As again this is not my perspective, its not a view and its not even a well written poem, what it is however is a documentation of facts. I repeat, starting in 1934 with the rise of the nazi's many did not speak out. I also take no pleasure in saying all of this, but when I see this type of abuse I will time and time again.

As you know Arthur, I have wrote several pieces dealing with a number of political and social issues. I agree that what is going on in the states is wrong. Still it is the same as people waving banners and calling women who choose to have abortions, baby killers. It doesn’t tell the whole story and creates hate instead of dialogue.

This makes me sad Arthur. I understand the conditions that led to Trump being elected. If I were Republican I would be pleased at the number of Republican Judges that have been put in place. Still I could not condone all the rest of Donald Trumps behaviour. He shouldn’t be given a free pass to do as he pleases. That is both wrong and dangerous.

Part 3 I might add is also sad that poets (ok many are not) do not know how to use nuance and context of a message verse literal meanings, again a total lack of education and ignorance or maybe simple hate. This is not about politics of left or right, this is about what is wrong. Now I might also say that just last year, some firms were held accountable for turning a blind eye during world war 2, they did no wrong, they simply shut their eyes. something for some to ponder

Part 2 Now, separating children from their parents on purpose, then not providing them proper food, water and accommodation is sad enough. Then to arrest doctors who for free wish to visit, give free vaccines and supplies. Now if that doesn't make your skin crawl there are now reports of 1000's of migrant children being sexually abused. I have been to war zones all over the world, I have stared hate in the eyes. Indifference is almost a s bad but when indifference sides with hate, well...... if one is offended by a poem making a point over that, is a sad day indeed.

Part 1 To be clear I didn't attack people from the South, this was word play based on states that the words worked, and by the way inspired by none other than Trae Crowder a buddy a Southerner. I was speaking up to the religious extremists that feel we can bomb others for their religious views but is acceptable at home. To focus on this one small point verse the message says more about hate than I have too. As for making each side villains, you obviously didn't read the poem or the memes, so let me explain who a villain is. If you don't stand up to concentration camps, sexual abuse, child abuse, you are a villain. Hitler, Trump and many Tyrants use your argument by making a moral equivalence between someone standing up to hate verses hate. The comments here by the way are filled with hate, and yet not a one spoke up for the kids in concentration camps, ironic no?

Aside from what I wrote above, attacking people from the south even those who support the President, for me is in bad taste. There can be no chance for consensus when each side views the other as the villain. As for POTD as we both know this poem doesn’t rise to the level of artistic merit that should warrant being honoured. Certainly not one of your best buddy. ;0)

Why can't we all just support each other? That's what Poetrysoup is all about. There are as much Republicans here as there are Democrats, and its next-to-impossible for us to always agree on everything. If a poet addresses a theme or topic you don't agree with, just don't respond, period. We have the right to be anti or pro-anything without being subjected to the ire of disapprovers. this is the year 2020, in the USA today they are running concentration camps, and for me that is not a left/right issue. I have spoken up on this issue and the populism that exists these days that makes way for these type of tyrannical leaders. Many other Countries suffer the same. Thank you for your kind words.

I never comment on POTD, mostly because they're chosen unfairly, today, perfect example. Why would PS choose this? -and yes they choose, it's not an algorithm like they tell you! he did so much for me and my family these last few years. Concentration camps? sad to see people chose dollars over morality. Now the average American will pay more than $1200 a year just cause of tariffs, not to mention he is providing good times by running one of the largest deficits. in history. The poor and undeducated are the last to learn sadly.

.i watched the cost of living sky rocket and my wages stay the same or barely move up...under Trump i have had great raises every year...i have my insurance back as a disabled person who chooses to work, and they even told me i was eligible for snap if i cared to ask for other help..

He doesn't live here so he only see's what is spread around...i am much better off to under the current president then i have been before...i lost my health insurance and other things under the previous president but never did i bad mouth him even as his insurance became to high to afford and my life saving meds went up monthly...i was fined by the goverment for not having insurance (that i had prior to his reform) i was told even though my son lived with me all his life as a single mom i could not claim him as a dependent because i did not carry his insurance... his father did for 3 months that year..

the economy is better than ever, tax returns gone up, raises for women in workplace, defeated Isis, rebuilt military, and benefited my family so much. I could go on. That is why I appreciate and respect our president. It is the media who never speaks of all the positive things and people don't know about the good. Hope some can realize how much we have prevailed these last few years. Too many are afraid to speak up because of being threatened or ridiculed. It's terrible we can't all get along. America is divided and it's sad. I never get into politics but I am a firm believer in respecting a republican or democrat. I could care less, right, left- whatever. But whoever can benefit the country and my family, I fully support.

You may support concentration camps that's your choice many Germans did, you may support the deportation of veterans who fought for the USA that's also your choice.
