Motion and Rest
Motion and rest
from Thomas' Gospel
motion and rest
and we make our plans
we carry them out
while God makes his
and he knows
because he's been planning forever
and he is what he is
and we are who we are
and you are who you are
and then there are those inside
those thoughts of good and evil
where do they come from
and who are you
some kind of stranger
in Biblical times new and old
they personified certain thoughts
and some still do
though we are few I know
just that first part was from Tom's Gospel
"motion and rest"
who knows the spirits of insperation
know yourself
and where do those spirits come from
plainly
some of them are born in darkness
and some are born in light
and those who can read these words
surely must realize
their restponsibilty
let's say you
take a mortgage out for a home
then find yourself in a bad position later on
that you cannot pay
the lein holder will surely come
or send the sheriff or someone
to take your home away
mankind decides what is good and evil
we have paved our ways
and what will his majesty say
come judgment day
when he sees one trying to give life away
and this world considers it very tired and poor
real estate
our bellies are fat
but our minds are starving
and who on earth would love me
love this
or want anything to do
with our words my love
people need hope
for it is written that heaven and earth shall pass away
and that stars will fall from the sky
and I pray
that their'll be enough stars left in thy kingdom
that our children will explore them some day
and for a very, very long time
fruitful ones
good and ready and ripe
and I pray
that when it's time for the heavens to end
that we'll all be around to glorify his holy name
again and again
I beg you all
let's be good and true
let's purify our thoughts
and search for channels of truth
reader know that, those who know are known
even the likes of me and you
