Motherhood

Though we were close, I left so long ago! Our memories, once bright, now barely glow. The smallest chance to meet again shall be The gift of love which you still have for me. From early childhood I grew up with you; From you I learned all which is good and true. Time’s flow cannot efface our happy past, Though our long lives forever cannot last. Soon I will be again in your embrace, And my warm hands will comfort your dear face; Yet always, in my heart, I shall regret My old mistakes, though kindly, you forget.
