Mosque Controversy

I'm non denominational. I practice no particular religious faith. My religion is plain and simple: Love, Don't Hate. I can't understand for the life of me all of this "Don't build a Mosque close to the 911 site" controversy. Muslims as a whole DID NOT launch the 911 attack. It was carried out by a bunch of religious, fanatical maniacs. If we forbid a Mosque to be built close to the 911 site then no Christian Churches should ever also be allowed the right to build a Church anywhere close to a hospital clinic because fanatical Christians have been known to blow up abortion clinics, killing innocents who had nothing to do with abortion at all. My Great Country is crumbling from ignorance. The walls are beginning to fall The 1st Amendment guarantees all of us Freedom Of and Freedom From Religion. To forbid a Mosque being built based on its faith is a blatant violation of the U S Constitution. All these protesters voicing their ignorance obviously are only breeding more hate, more disharmony. Why can't they see that one thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other? There are religious fanatic terrorists and there are faiths that preach Love One Another. Am I the only one on this planet who can see that this is all wrong? I hate quoting Rodney King but, "Can't we all just get along?"

I suffered losses from both sides of the fence on 9/11. Some were Muslim Americans that I knew personally, others were non Muslim Americans. To the grieving 9/11 families of the Christian faith ( which is the majority) . There's no way to say this without sounding offensive, but if you condone this in any way you are hypocrites and are NOT practicing the sacred scripture of Your Lord. Your anger is misdirected and blinding you......................................................................

To condone or promote this, however great or small is in direct violation of the very faith you claim to practice because you are playing a role in the persecution of a people. A behavior that Jesus Christ I'm sure would not approve of or promulgate. To the grieving 9/11 families of the Muslim faith (which is the minority) I'm familiar with your sacred scripture. It's very similar to the above's sacred scripture and promotes the same message of loving harmony among all of us.....................

Many of you are blinded and misdirecting your anger as well. You too are violating your faith if you allow yourselves to fall victim of the ignorance........just my opinion.

By the way, Chris D Aechtner, how in the hell do you manage to manage being so aware....because that very same awareness that you shared, that I also can see, is driving me friggin nuts...well sometimes...when that happens a little whacky tobaccy does the trick.

No offense Carolyn, but I challenge you to express your compassion to these 9/11 victims and their grieving familys below. Some were American, some were not. Some I Knew Personally and all are Muslim and I am witnessing first hand the stupidity of all of this. Tell ya what..let's go back to Black only/White only restrooms. Let's go back to Irish Need Not Apply, while we're at it let's hunt down some friggin witches and burn em at the stake...just a thought...not my opinion.

Bill, I think the families of the 9/11 victims feel differently about this. I do understand where you're coming from, but I fear that people who worship in this mosque could be in danger. I CAN see the forest through the trees and I know there are many peace-loving Muslims. However, I do have compassion for the 9/11 victims' families and friends and this could end up leading to more senseless violence. Just my opinion. Love, Carolyn

My point is had it been Christian fanatics who crashed into those buildings, would there be any controversy at all about building a Catholic Church close to the site? I don't think so. It is only because the Muslim religion is a minority in America and apparently the latest in religious persecution. Muslims other than the terrorists died at that site as well. Well respected Muslim American citizens. I can only imagine how their grieving families must feel as a result of all this ignorance.

Interesting read, I have nothing against the Muslim religion and feel they should be able to worship in freedom as the rest of us do. I also have to wonder why they would choose this particular spot in all of America to build. The Muslim people are not ignorant and had to know the controversy this was going to cause. Out of respect for the dead and this country of which they are citizens of they should have located somewhere else. Just my thoughts on the subject.
