More Thoughts(Free Verse)

I was thinking about my patients, Just people like you and I Except when you're sick, you're an angel Someone who needs a smile and a pat. I was thinking of the elderly I cared for- Sometimes serene, waiting for death, But others were so scared you could feel it As you came into the room and approached their bed. I was thinking of new born babies and their Mommies- Most of them so happy-but others fearful, "Baby is crying! What do I do now!? I've never held a new baby, have you?!" I was thinking of patients who were leaving- All well now and excited to get to their homes, Moms leaving with babies, excited too- "Can I call you if I have questions" "Of course dear-all new Moms do."
