More In My Life

Our life was nothing to be left in shambles, Hoping I’d be going in circles living without you. You thought you’d left me alone in those brambles. But the reality of your nothingness isn’t quite true. Why the hell did you think, the thoughts that you do We shared a lot more in our lives, than just we two. Life will be better. I know this is true, it’s not that I care but I just have to say, There was always more in my life than just you, so I’ll never be caring where you’re going to stay. You left me holding two smaller hearts tight in my hand, they’re not weeping for you, so I know I am right. Nor will they slip from my grip like the cold sand, shifty and drifting loose, like you, so late in the night. Now they’ll always mean more to me in my life, than that little gold band loaded with strife. In ending, this thought should be clear to you if you'd just listen, you’ll know that it’s true. There’s more in my life than crying over you. *Written for a friend whose wife just up and left him and their two small girls.
