Your beautiful daughter, and in a few minutes you are giving her away to another man - your daughter will always love you as much as she always has and the love that she will share with her husband cannot be compared - question - will she still love me - has been asked for generations - I remarried in my mid forties to a man I knew from my early twenties and who I loved deeply - my son at the reception said, Elias, I am not giving my mom to you, I am sharing her with you. hugs, Jenn

You are kind. In actuality We have a son, no daughter. He got married two years ago. I’m glad you found the right person. It took me two tries as well and we have been happily married for 26 years. Thanks for your visit.

That's a nice one, Richard. I think it will be a very different kind of love that simply does not compare with, nor diminish, the father's love.

I agree, this however deals with a parent's inability to let go. Thanks for your visit Agnes.

The moon an ever phasing shape shifts each month as does the daily ocean tides. Inspiring three lines.

very deep question and so evident of a father's love of his daughter and mixed feelings on losing her to her husband. I'VE EXPERIENCED THAT FIRST HAND MYSELF.. Great poem and so much packed in such few words.. Now that is top poetic talent on display... A fav...

Oh Rick, this is so beautiful...I'm enthralled by it's powerful message, and the fact that you incorporated the moon in such a way that I'm pleased to see its splendor! The message is really sad though my friend! I don't think anyone could eclipse the love of you and your daughter! That is forever true, no matter what it is unconditional, even if at times it doesn't feel like it! I truly loved reading this grandiose piece this morning, Great work!!

Thanks Russell, I personally don't have a daughter but can imagine the protective instinct. Also I think it is okay that another's love eclipses his own. It does not mean that his love has stopped shining it is just less visible for a time. Thanks for such a great comment Russell.

Oh dear....nothing can eclipse that. It is only a different form of love, nothing more....nothing less. Beautiful, indeed. :)

Yes different and it is okay that for a time to be eclipsed. The father's love of course will continue to shine.
