Moments of Magic
MOMENTS OF MAGIC
when I was young
oh maybe five minutes ago
I would spin
beneath the coolness of the ancient elm
it smiled down on me
through the suns rays
all golden, green and happy
like a soft top whirl about
arms outstretched
hands float, white leaves
on effervescent air
heart thrum
heavy even rhythms
perhaps a call to somewhere
bared feet a whirly gig
in young grass
soak up the energy of the earth
absorb the world so far way
I was safe caught up in my dream
then, to collapse on the ground
waiting for the earth to spin in answer.
